For Family Night, Joe's mom and his sister Julie invited us over to make blankets. It was such a fun night. The girls enjoyed learning how to tie a blanket. They took us though each step so the girls would get excited and want to make more on their own later.
We began at Walmart. The girls each got to choose their own fabric for their own blanket. They got to choose 2 kind that matched. One for the front and one for the back. It was fun watching them as they kept trying new combinations until they decided on what they wanted. In the end they each choose a blanket that fits them exactly!! Kennady choose purple and lime green with tinkerbell. Sydney choose Turquoise and a soft Hannah Montana material. Avery choose Ariel and pink!! Julie chose a princess and light blue fabric for Audrey.
We then headed over to Grandma Annette's house to begin our work. They girls really got into the process. We had to lay the material and out and cut them both to the same size. We then layed them out with the batting in between. Next was the process of tying the yarn. Julie would use the needle, Avery would pull it, and then Kennady and Sydney would take turn cutting and tying the yarn. It was so much fun watching them learn.
Once the blanket was tied, it went over to Grandma on the sewing machine. She was sewing the sides up. Kennady was really interested in this part so she also spent time helping grandma. Brandon (Julies husband) also go in on the fun. He had to thread the sewing machine many times!!
In the end we were only able to complete one blanket. We finished Audrey's blanket and she loves it!!
They are all tied, just waiting for us to go back and sew them up. It was such a fun night. Thanks Grandma and Julie. We loved making the blankets and we can't wait until we can snuggle with them too!! I will post our finished products when we are done!!

That is such a good idea for a family night. Julie is so good at making things.
Get your girls into sewing! I loved all the sewing experiences I had when I was younger. They can make me a blanket for Christmas! I really have put a lot of thought into what I can tell you to get me, and if you pay close enough attention you could get me a great present(oh my gosh I sound awful to others who don't know our past conversations...I'm not greedy and expect a present thats fabulous I'm just trying to be helpful!)
How fun! Glad you all got to spend time together and I love the new blankets. They will be fun to have, and your girls will love them even more since they made them.
Those blankets look so comfy. Now I wanna make one. ha ha The house isn't fully decorated I still have to choose out what pictures and things and where I want them. But you guys are more then welcome to come over and check it out. How is Joe doing?
Okay on the plans for the 20th. I am way excited. If you need us to get you the money now let me know. That will be way fun to go to Mimi's first I am way excited!! Thanks for inviting us!
