2 Weeks Old

Our sweet little Audrey is 2 weeks old today. She went to her first baby checkup! She weighed in at 8 lbs. and 7 oz. (almost gained an entire pound!) Her head is in the 75 percentile! Way to go. She has the Boston head.
She has been a great baby so far. She is so sweet. There are so many times she is just hanging around looking at all of us. She can be very calm. She almost looks like she is thinking. She is also doing well at nights. She usually only gets up twice!! I am sure we still have many more sleepless nights ahead but I will take as much sleep as I can get!

I have decided that Avery and Audrey must have been best friends in heaven. Avery is always by her side. She is gentle and caring. She has never acted jealous. Whenever I go to change Audrey or bath her or feed her, Avery has to follow. She isn't pushing either. She just wants to be by her sister.

The other girls are also doing great. Kennady has taken on the role of Avery's mother. Kennady says that since I can't carry Avery it is her job to take care of her. She usually gets on her P.J's for me at night. She reads her many stories. She is always playing with her outside. Kennady has really been a great helper to me.

Sydney is just in love with Audrey. She is always saying, " I just love that cute baby" or " That baby of mine is so cute." Sydney is always wanting to hold Avery. She is also very gentle except that she thinks she is big enough to hold the baby all around the house. She doesn't like that she is not allowed to hold her standing up!

I also have to say just a few thank you's . First of all I need to thank all of you for your phone calls, visits, emails, and kindness. I have not had to cook one meal yet! I have the best family, friends and neighbors. They have all pitched in to help me with dinners, taking my kids so I can have a break, cleaning my house, and most of all being a listening ear. My cute husband has been so great to help out with whatever I need. In fact when I was having an emotional day he came home and played the first song that is on my playlist for me. He said that it is his song for me. Sometimes that's just what you need to hear. I am so thankful to all of you. You all make my life better!!

Audrey Louise McCaul

Audrey was born May 13th, 2008. She weighed 7 lbs. 10 oz. (our biggest baby yet). She was 18 inches long. She was born at 8:02 am. Here is our story.

Joe and I had to be at the hospital at 5:30 am. We got there and got all settled in a room and set up for a c-section. It was the best set up I have had. I had a wonderful anethesiologist. He did such a great job. I did not even feel when he put in the epidural. He was so careful and quick. He also did the medicine in a new way that made my recovery easier. I didn't have the chills and shaking that can come with an epidural.

The surgery also went great. They were very skilled and it didn't take as long as it had in the past. They did give me the warning that I had too much scar tissue to have any more children but I was already prepared for that. I guess we are a family of girls!!

This time was also a little different because the anethesiologist made Joe watch Audrey being born. He usually is too sick in the stomach but he watched her come out and he did great. I think it was a nice experience for him. She came out and they showed her to me first thing and we both thought she looked just like Avery. They then take her and Joe outside the operating room to clean and check her. After that they bring her back to me for a quick minute. I was able to kiss her and talk to her for a while. Then off they go to the nursery while I finish up my surgery.

It was the best surgery I have had. It all went well and so far I have recovered nicely. I am sore and I can get cranky when my medicine wears off but so far I can't complain. We have a beautiful girl that has already brought our family so much joy and happiness.

Many have asked about the other girls. They are doing great. They all love baby Audrey (as they call her). Avery so far isn't jealous or angry that Audrey is here getting attention. Avery was able to bond with her dad this week and has become quite a daddy's girl. She still wishes I could hold her but I just show her that my belly hurts and she seems okay with that answer.

I am sure the journey of new mom is just beginning. Many of you remember the highs and lows, the sleepless nights, the feeding and changing that seems to never end. But this being my last time I am trying to slow down and enjoy it. I hope that blogging will help me to take the time to document the changes we are going through and to keep you all up on Audrey and the many things she will go through.
Thanks to all of you for your phone calls, visits, thoughts, and prayers. I do not feel alone and I appreciate all of you for your support and love.

Sydney's Mother Day Program

Today I went to Sydney's Mother Day Program at her preschool. It was very sweet and made me reflect on how special she is. She is such an easy going, fun-loving, tender, caring, snuggly, girl. I love her so much. She has become such a great girl. She did a great job and I am so proud of her. Her are some pictures and a video of her songs. The songs were very sweet. She also made me a picture and gave me a plant. I love my Sydney Beans!!

No much going on

Well I know it has been a while since I have updated but I decided it is because not much is going on. First Joe has been out of town a lot the last 2 weeks so we have been laying low. Also I think every spare minute I have has gone to getting ready for the baby. With cleaning the car seat, strollers, bouncers, sheets, clothes, bibs, and everything else it hasn't left much time for fun.
One thing that has been fun is that Brian by brother, his wife Kelley and their little boy Alexander came over for a visit.

He is in Dental School in Philly so we don't get to see them much. They came for Kelley's sisters graduation and we were so glad they could spend some time with us too!! We played outside, we went to eat yummy food, we let the cousins all play together, we had a nice dinner with Kelley's family, and were just excited to spend some time together. We went to the mall for pictures so here is the link if you want to check those out!

Well we have 1 week and 3 days until the baby arrives!! We are getting excited!! By the end of May we will have many pictures and video to show you all of our new little girl!
