Nauvoo- Day 1

We left for our family vacation to Nauvoo IL on Dec. 17th 2008. We headed to the airport around 9:00 am. Our flight left around 11:00 am!! It was nice and easy. No problems getting through security which is great when you have 4 kids. We had a nice flight. It only took us about 2 1/2 hours to get there. Our girls did great!! Little Audrey was such a trooper. She hung out on my lap and Joe put her to sleep for the last half of the flight. Avery sat next to me and she loved every minute of flying. She loved her own seat, she loved the treats and the drinks, she loved playing with her bag of toys that I brought her, she loved watching Nacho Libre on Joe's IPOD, and most of all she loved just hanging out and talking to me!! We had such a fun time. Kennady and Sydney were grown up and sat together on the plane. They each had their own carry on full of snack and activities. I think they really loved hanging out together!!

Once we landed in St. Louis we met up with Jason and Katie!! It was so much fun having them come along with us. We still had a 3 hour drive ahead of us so we headed over to rent our car!! We did not get any old car. We got a 15 passanger van!! It was so cool because we had plenty of room and we could all drive together!!

We headed out on our trek to find Nauvoo! We asked a couple people if they knew how long it would take us to get there but nobody even knew where Nauvoo was. They had never heard of it. It was crazy to think about. I never realized it would just be an LDS site!! So we used our GPS and off we went. It was a long drive. I thought it took a lot longer than 3 hours. The kids were doing great until poor Reddek got sick!! He threw up all over. I felt so bad for him. But in the end we made it to our destination.

We stayed in a place called The Mansion on the Hill. It is a huge house with 6 bedrooms.

It is right across from the Mississippi River.

This house was amazing! It was so much fun to stay in. Each room was decorated so cute. It had a great family room and kitchen. I really loved the dining area too!! Our master bedroom was awesome!! It was so huge with a giant master bathroom too! I just loved staying at the house.

When we arrived it was late. Katie and I got the kids all settled in while Joe and Jason went shopping for some food and goodies!

The kids all got comfy on the couches and watched TV while Katie and I unloaded our stuff and tried to settle in! It didn't take long for us to fall in love with the house and to make it feel like home!!

It was nice to finally get to Nauvoo and we were all really excited to go see what Nauvoo was all about!!
